As a photographer, I am constantly on the lookout for great people and inspiring venues. When it comes to this photo shoot, I was extremely lucky to have all in one. A lot of amazing things combined: spectacular Manhattan, Jewish wedding and wonderful people. Let me introduce you to Mia and Julian – a perfectly matched couple.
City Winery New York Wedding – About Mia & Julian
Looking at the couple’s pictures, you can immediately say that they are extraordinary people. They are just themselves in an inimitable way. I’ll always remember their modern wedding, New York and its great vibe. Mia and Julian are New Yorkers who are strongly connected with art. Mia creates and directs for theater, tv and film. Julian is an award-winning director and cinematographer. They love their city for the enormity of opportunities it offers. Their professional choices and passion for art make them respect the photographer’s work. During our whole cooperation, I felt deeply understood. We immediately found a common ground. To my delight, they resent artificiality and pretentiousness. We wanted as natural and spontaneous photographs as possible. What’s also important, Mia and Julian love traveling. One of the places where they like to visit is Europe. We started our adventurous cooperation not in New York, but in… Paris!
How did I become a New York wedding photographer?
From Paris, France to New York City: Julian found me on Junebug Weddings. I am an awarded wedding photographer in Paris and south of France. Julian had proposed to Mia in Paris, and I made a first photo shoot right there. That’s when I saw how energetic, fun and original people they are. What I liked most was that they didn’t want the classic photos with the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre in the background. We visited less popular but still spectacular places like the Montmartre area or the little-known green alley of the Museum of Romantic Life. It was a great experience and I’m going to post this photo shoot soon on my blog. After this time spent together, they invited me to become their wedding photographer. Manhattan is one of my favorite places, so I did the same as Mia in Paris – I said yes ;). New York is an iconic place with a truly awesome vibe. The event was going to take place in SoHo, a world famous artist district in Lower Manhattan. I really enjoyed taking photos in unique corners of SoHo. It is unlike any other area in the city.
New York City Jewish wedding – preparations and reception
While Mia was preparing for the ceremony with her bridesmaids at her aunt’s apartment in lower Manhattan, Julian was spending time with his best men at New York City Winery. Wedding’s atmosphere could be felt in the air, I must say! We organized their first look quite originally. They saw each other at the intersection of Houston and Sulivan streets. I liked the spontaneity of this encounter. A first look among cars, cyclists and pedestrians… Just look at the pictures! That was symbolic, because it was the area where Mia and Julian first met. It was a true Manhattan Jewish wedding. Tradition was very important here and the ceremony was performed according to Jewish rite. Both Mia and Julian are Jewish and wanted to honor their culture. It was beautiful and authentic.
The atmosphere of love and mutual respect was strongly felt. A lot of guests was moved to tears and I’m not surprised! After that a great party began! Despite traditional Jewish ceremony, this was a truly New York modern wedding! A few DJs played music and it was great, I must admit. What was the coolest, friends and family prepared a surprise flash mob! A couple of toasts were raised, there were moving speeches, and two talented singers performed on stage! One of them was Rachel Brown and the other was Annie Simon. Both are close friends to Mia and Julian.
New York City winery – a perfect wedding venue
I must admit that this event was an awesome experience. I felt great there, not only professionally but also privately. Taking photos in the beautiful interiors of New York City Winery made me feel as a real Manhattan wedding photographer. This is the perfect space for the modern-day couple that offers a unique touch. Not to mention the wine! New York City Winery is really stunning and creates a warm and romantic backdrop for a wedding. Its not only one of the best Jewish wedding venues NYC, but its open for other wedding reception types. Look at the pictures and you will understand the scale of possibilities this place offers. Just gorgeous wedding venue in the city of New York!
This New York City wedding story could not be realized in such a way without my buddy Greg from swiatlolap.pl who supported me as a second photographer on that day. Greg, you were awesome and thanks so much buddy for being there with me. Without you this wedding reportage would never be so rich in emotions and candid moments.
Winery Wedding – Luke Sezeck – New York City Photographer
At the end I’d love to share with you few words from my amazing New York City wedding couple- Mia and Julian, about how they reminisce our cooperation on their wedding day:
“We discovered Luke when searching for a photographer to shoot our engagement photos in Paris, and thank goodness that we found him! He is life-changing! Luke’s work has a distinct style and personality that we saw immediately, and once we got to know Luke and saw how easy it was to work with him, we knew he was the perfect person to document our wedding in NYC. Not only was Luke kind, respectful, and a genuine pleasure to have at our wedding, but he created an environment where all of our friends and family felt comfortable and at ease. The photos Luke took were spectacular, and he and his team captured incredible moments that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. The book he compiled of our favorite photos is incredible – we are so happy with how it turned out. Luke is a true artist, and we are forever grateful to his artistry and for capturing such joy and wedding craziness in an authentic, beautiful way.” Mia + Julian.
